Clitheroe CC school cricket coaching programme

CCC & Johnson Matthey team up to bring cricket to Clitheroe schools!

Clitheroe Cricket Club have teamed up with local employers Johnson Matthey to launch an in-school cricket coaching programme in 2017 & 2018. The programme will provide all primary school children in Citheroe the opportunity to take up cricket, through 'taster sessions' delivered by highly-qualified coaches from The Cricket Asylum.

The programme is part of a drive from the club to further engage with local youngsters and their families, in order to increase participation in cricket/sport within the Clitheroe area. With the club making substantial investments in both the artificial practice area and playing square over the forthcoming months, we want all local children to become major beneficiaries of these top-class facilities.

Current CCC cricketer and junior coach Tahir Amin stated "as someone who grew up in Clitheroe and recently returned with a young family, I am delighted by the progress that our club is making and the opportunities that are now being provided to children in the Clitheroe area. Hopefully we will see many of the children benefiting from this coaching at our club in 2017". Fiona Campbell, Operations Manager at Johnson Matthey Clitheroe, also expressed her delight with the project, commenting "Johnson Matthey are pleased to be able to support this programme, which will benefit our local community here in the Ribble Valley”.

The aim is for the coaching sessions to take place in local schools over the spring of 2017 & 2018, to provide a natural lead-in to our Thursday night junior cricket training, which begins on the 13th April.
