The new 2nd XI skipper airs his views

Our next interview is with new 2nd XI captain Danny Turner. As a peer of the original 'Spice Boys' in the early 2000s, Danny was a treble winner in 2006, with cricketing 'career breaks' to play golf interspersed with a Lawrenson Cup win in 2012.

Hi Danny, congrats on taking over as 2nd XI skipper. Taking over after Greeno's 23 years is quite a challenge. What are you most looking forward to about getting going?
Looking forward to taking on the role of bringing on the second eleven a producing even more great first team cricketers. Also looking forward to never having to get dragged off bowling!!

You took time out from the game to play golf...what drew you back? And how have things changed since you've been away?
Can’t beat a team sport to be honest and thought I’d unfinished business. The club hasn’t changed much other than the social side is thriving, another pull!!

How are preparations going thus far and what does a successful season look like for your lads (and girls if Alex features!)?
Prep is looking good apart from my broken finger at the first winter nets but should be ok for new season, few old faces coming back like Bilal and Andy Hutch plus lots of great youngsters, so looking forward to challenging on all fronts this season.

Leading run scorer?

I’d like to answer the first two as myself but best be neutral!
Butty, dangerous player and fancy him to come off this year
Leading wicket taker?
Saud Ahmed, if he stays sober
Youngster to watch out for?
George Barnes, looked good when he played last season so when he is available I think he will come on again this year, potential to be a great all rounder

League -
Telegraph Cup -

Clitheroe for both of course

If you could have dinner with any 3 CCC members (past or present) who would you choose and why?
Peter Dibb - Wouldn’t cost me a penny in drinks for him as he useless with the stuff.
Simon Coulter - Great crack when we played first team and liked a night out.
Mick 'radio' Cox - First manager at 8 years old and loves to tell a tale

Where would you like to see the club in 12 months time?
Everyone in the same division with more trophies on the shelf and Estrella back to 3 quid a pint!!
